| Install locally an Apache server (there are distributions with preinstalled PHP & Perl, like indigoperl) and MySQL. They are also free, and are faster when running in your computer without connecting to it through the net. Don't depend in all these free web hosts

Because I couldn't import the data, I had to enter it record by record. Since I was only trying to see how MySQL and PHP work, this service was good enough for me to try and learn. That's about all I expected to get for free anyway.

| Please remove lycos, they have to be the worst host that have ever existed. If your visitors to your site don't have their resolution at minimum 1024 X 768, they are NOT going to enjoy an ad frame that takes up ONE THIRD of the screen (literally) However, if you don't mind this and are really desperate for PHP and MySQL, then it's your choice...

| Lots of stuff... First of all, they have "Safe Mode" enabled on php, which means certain functions won't work (this is a security thing that prevents scripts from accessing things that weren't created by that script or the person who owns that script) and they have disabled other functions "for security reasons". Second, they insist on putting a brief top ad and a permanent side-bar ad on your page, even if you're using a forum. They don't have a customer service email address, and their service isn't that great. The side-bar is reallly really annoying too.
